In 2015, DACU conducted a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) on parks and trails in Dona Ana County. This was to analyze the potential health impacts of parks and multi-use trails within the County. The HIA was conducted to examine elements of the Viva Dona Ana Comprehensive Plan involving policy oriented around the creation and maintenance of civic spaces within the County. The Comprehensive Plan provides a framework for potential development goals of the County over the next 20 years.
