Group Projects and Co-Production

Because the timebank is a space to create many diverse relationships, members often find opportunities to take on projects with other members and create something greater than they could individually. In the timebanking world this is called co-production (read more about co-production here and here!). We are highlighting some of the amazing group projects and moments of co-production that our members have created!

Solidarity with Asylum Seekers

Kevin, a long-time member, helps set up an emergency hospitality site

In the summer of 2019, Las Cruces saw an influx of migrant families to our area. Timebank members donated items for asylum seekers, set up, and staffed hospitality sites. Timebank members welcomed asylum seekers in other ways, too including writing letters to the editor! See timebank member Richard Quinn's commentary in the May 1 edition of the Las Cruces Sun News, titled Refugees Welcome.

Spiritual Meditation

Cyrruss Easterlin, a very active member, is always searching for ways that we can all be connecting more deeply. For 6 months, Cyrruss hosted a non-religious, spiritual meditation, open to all!

Cyrruss meditates frequently, and it helps him to focus and envision his actions more clearly. If you're interested in learning about meditation from Cyrruss, please contact him through the timebank!

Story Circle

Jim works on a story at Pioneer Women's Park.

In June of 2019, DACU piloted a story-telling workshop that culminated in a Story Slam. Everyone enjoyed listening to these stories of lived-experience, and we enjoyed telling them! The stories helped us recognize  our own humanity, and the humanity in others. We hoped to create a space where timebank members could tell and listen to similar stories, and connect with each other.

Timebanker Teague has experience coaxing stories from people using writing, art, and prompts. She led a Story Circle for timebankers to do just that!
