Nevada Neighborhood Project

DACU is working in the Nevada neigborhood to create connections through civic engagement and urban art. The neighborhood is defined as the area between Walnut and Solano from east to west and between Lohman and Idaho from north to south.

Neighbors and residents of the Nevada Neighborhood have gathered for a number of community events to increase social cohesion, and, working with local artists, they’ve come up with some cool projects designed to increase safety.

  • Traffic-calming tires, painted by Lynn Middle School students.

The project is supported by a  grant from Partners for Places, a project of the Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities. This work is part of a larger project of the City of Las Cruces Sustainability Office that will increase safety and address heat island effects by slowing traffic through creation of a green corridor on Nevada Avenue.
